Helen Scarisbrick (Vicar):
I came to be Vicar here at St. Alban’s in January 2009 and I’m really enjoying getting to know people, being part of the church life and our community. I love the variety of this job, including taking a Communion service at Wood Hey Court, chatting with students at Trafford College and acting out the story of the “Lost Sheep” with the nursery children at Broadheath and Dunham children’s Centre. It’s a real joy to see God at work in all the good things happening in this community and to be part of them wherever possible.

My name’s Trevor Hodson and I’ve been part of the ministry team at St. Albans for four years now. I’m an MSE – a minister in secular employment – that means I also work “undercover” in a school in West Lancashire as an assistant head teacher.
I’ve been married for 31 years to Patsy, who’s also a teacher. We have two grown up daughters, Lucy (26) and Rose (23).
We love St. Alban’s, it’s the closest Christian community we’ve ever worked in. I am especially keen to see people finding out more about real Christianity, and experiencing the power of God in normal day to day life.

Our family has been part of St Alban’s since 1990 and I’ve been a Lay Reader since 2002.  That means I can take services and preach so it’s an upfront role but I don’t get paid for it!  For my day job I work for the Environment Agency as a team leader in Environment Protection so I feel it fits in really well with our God given purpose to look after the planet. Recently, I’ve become Chaplain of the local Sea Cadet unit.  I’m married to Meg and we have two teenage children. We really enjoy being part of the family at St Alban’s and made good friends. We are particularly motivated by seeing (especially young) people grow in their faith.  We enjoy walking, talking, eating and growing our own.

I came to be a Lay Reader at St. Albans after being licensed in 2002 and have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of that role.  I now have the pleasure of visiting the chronically sick and housebound and sharing in the Communion service with them. I also find it a privilege to pray with and for others.I am very happy to be part of such a loving, caring  church family.

I started attending St Albans regularly about 10 years ago. This year is my first year as church warden. I have served on the PCC before now but this is different and quite challenging in certain ways. I have also recently taken early retirement from work, in common with others, I find myself so busy now that I cannot see how I possibly had time to go to work!

I have been a member of St Alban’s Church for over 30 years. When I first went along I was made very welcome and visitors frequently comment what a friendly and welcoming church St Alban’s is. I have held various offices in the church and at present am one of the Churchwardens and also Church Administrator.
As well as the variety of church activities, I love the opportunities we have to be part of the local community such as seeing the Church full of Christmas trees at our Christmas Tree Festival and seeing children from local schools come along to take part in the “Rewind” events.

There are many others who contribute in different ways to the life of our church family and local community such as;
study groups, prayer team, café, toddler group, craft group, Youth on Friday, holiday club for the young at heart, involvement with Broadheath Community Association, Broadheath Primary School, Trafford College and the sea cadets.

We’d love to hear from you if you too feel you have something to contribute.
